The
definitions found in M.S.A. ch. 200 and the following words, terms and phrases,
when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this
section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
Election
board means the election
judges serving in a ward or precinct.
Polling
place means the place of
voting.
Precinct
means a subdivision of a ward.
Ward
means a geographical area, the boundaries of which are established for election
purposes in accordance with M.S.A. § 204B.14.

Every
person who violates this chapter when he performs an act thereby prohibited or
declared unlawful or who fails to act when such failure is thereby prohibited or
declared unlawful, upon conviction, shall be punished in accordance with section
1-13.

(a)
Established. The absentee ballot counting board, also called the
absentee ballot precinct, is established with the purpose of counting all
absentee ballots cast in the city.
(b)
Duties. The duties of the absentee ballot counting board shall be
as follows:
(1)
The judges of the board shall take possession of all return envelopes
delivered to them in accordance with M.S.A. § 203B.08.
(2)
The board is authorized to examine all return absentee ballot envelopes
and receive or reject absentee ballots in the manner provided in M.S.A. §
203B.12.
(3)
The board shall open and count the absentee ballots, tabulating the vote
in a manner that indicates each vote of the absentee voter and the total
absentee vote cast for each candidate or question in each precinct.
(4)
The board shall report the vote totals tabulated for each precinct.
(c)
Compensation. The city clerk shall pay a reasonable compensation
to each member of the board for services rendered during each election pursuant
to M.S.A. § 203B.13.
