Planning Process
The City of Albert Lea is in the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan. Click here to learn more about the Comprehensive Plan and the planning process.
Public Participation
Public participation plays an important role in the process of creating the Comprehensive Plan. A series of public workshops will be held to allow the public to become informed about the Plan and provide guidance to the Steering Committee. The first public workshop was held on September 18, 2007. A summary of that workshop is posted here. The second public workshop was held Thursday, November 15, 2007.
Vision for the Future
The Vision Statement is an important part of the Comprehensive Plan. It describes the desired qualities and characteristics of Albert Lea that will guide future planning decisions. Recent community based planning has provided a good starting point for establishing a vision. Input at the September 18 public workshop reinforced the components of the community’s Vision Statement. A draft Vision Statement that was presented at the September 18 meeting is posted here for your review. Feel free to critique this statement using the form or email. You can send your comments to any of the contacts below.
Community Context
The future of Albert Lea will be influenced by forces already in motion. Information about demographic and economic trends as well as regional, community and neighborhood patterns will be posted here in early November.
