RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SOUTH CENTRAL DRUG INVESTIGATION UNIT (SCDIU) INVOLVMENT BY ALBERT LEA POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the South Central Drug Investigation Unit (SCDIU) serves a four county area of approximately 2,287 square miles and over 102,000 residents; and
WHEREAS, SCDIU has been engaged in the battle of illegal drugs and its inherent crime for over two decades; and
WHEREAS, this organization will coordinate efforts to apprehend and prosecute drug offenders; now, therefore
THE CITY OF ALBERT LEA RESOLVES:
Sec. 1. That the Albert Lea Police Department is hereby authorized to participate in the South Central Drug Investigation Unit at a cost of $5,000 for 2008.
Sec. 2. That reading of this resolution is waived by Council consent.
Sec. 3. That publication of this resolution shall be dispensed with under provisions of Section 3.08 of the Charter of the City of Albert Lea.
That the motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilor Brooks, and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Councilors Rasmussen, Baker, Marin, Olson, Severtson, Brooks and Mayor Erdman.
And the following voted against the same: None.
